Hey Josh...today has a strange day for Praying Pelican Missions. Please pass this along to people who would pray and pray hard. I just received this email from my boss:
Hello everyone,
Many of you know this, some do not. This afternoon, three PPM staff (Burton, Aaron, and Laura) were in a serious two-car car crash on the Western Hwy in Belize.
All sustained injuries, but praise God none of them appear to be life-threatening. Sadly, one of the people in the other vehicle was killed. All three PPM staff are currently at Belize Medical Associates Hospital (the US – run clinic in Belize). Pastor Lloyd, Mike, Gayle, Nancy, and others are with them providing support.
At this point, it looks like all of them will be fine. We’ll know more after all the necessary tests have been run, but initial indications are good. The injuries range from broken ribs to a really sore back to a concussion.
Please lift every one of them up in your prayers continually this weekend and in the time to come…..the mission trips that start tomorrow will continue as scheduled, and we are working to make the necessary adjustments for the teams. We’ll update you on their status when we find out. Going forward, expect that no news is good news. If anything takes a significant turn for the worse, we’ll be sure to let you all know asap.
Pray Pray Pray!
I, as well as the rest of the PPM staff, feel just helpless. It's a time when all I can do is pray, remember that God is God, and know that He is taking care of things. We have two teams coming into Belize tomorrow. The injured staff members were supposed to be leading a team of 60 medical students in the southern part of Belize. We are relying heavily on our local pastors and belizian staff members to lead this trip and trusting that God is in control. I will let you know when I know anything, but please be praying for my friends (and their spouses--who are in the US and worried sick I'm sure) as well as the others who will be impacted by this event.
Thanks Josh....
